As you recall, it was discussed in class on a few occasions that one important skill that a person should take with them into any future career is the capability to listen to a presentation, take notes, and otherwise learn from that presentation without the usual classroom aids, such as handouts or access to electronic forms of the presentation, such powerPoint slides or web pages. We rely on many such resources in modern teaching and learning, and (most of the time) for good reason: such resources can aid in learning if one takes advantage of them.
However, one downside to this approach is that students may not learn good skills for listening, capturing important points, and taking their own notes to help them retain and learn from less formal presentations (e.g., team meetings) that will occur often in real life. You will recall that it was also said in class that web sessions were left intentionally blank for a while to have students practice their own knowledge acquisition skills, such as note taking. As a result, you will notice that the session links on the website for most of October are blank.
This assignment is one that will help both you and me understand this issue better.
