SONDEREGGER UNDERGRADUTE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARD
Applicants are invited from Computer Science undergraduate majors who are also residents of Montana for the Sonderegger Undergraduate Financial Assistance Award Fellowship. Awards will be made for the 2009-2010 academic year. Awards can be either:
1. GIFT
Selection for this award will be based on a student’s need for assistance rather than on his/her GPA. Successful applicants must show that the award will be used to alleviate problems that are delaying or hindering their graduation. For example, the money could be used to hire a tutor, reduce the student’s need to work excessive hours, etc. Awards in this category are for a maximum of $500 per year (usually $250 per semester).
2. AWARD IN EXCHANGE FOR SERVICES
Selection for this award
requires at least two (2) letters of reference demonstrating your ability to perform the service needed. Services needed are dependent on departmental needs but include tutoring CS students in 100-200 level classes; serving as a departmental Web maintenance person; supervising labs so that they can remain open after 5 p.m., etc. You should indicate on your application what type of service you can and are willing to perform. Awards are for a minimum of $200 per year (usually $100 per semester) with a maximum of $1000 per year which will be determined by the service rendered. Usually you will be expected to work about 3-4 hours per week during the semester to qualify for the maximum award.
