in the framework of the

Webworks Laboratory

Program Animation

Program animation refers to the interactive, dynamic display of programs in execution.

What it is

Program animation was the first project tackled by the project director and earlier members of what has now become the Webworks team.  Program animation remains one of the primary thrusts of Webworks, with a successful animation environment for the web well on its way.   Visit the links below to learn more about this project and to try the program animator.

The Craftsmen and Women

The program animator has evolved through many phases and passed through the hands of many people.  Those primarily responsible for the web incarnation are Frances Goosey and Chris Boroni.   The animator has been the subject of numerous papers and conference presentations, and in earlier versions has been used all over the world.  The web version is sure to receive even more use.

Try the animator

Try the Webworks program animator yourself!  Just remember to be PATIENT at the start.  It takes a while to download the applet.  When you start the first animation be PATIENT again.  Initialization of the applet and the Java virtual machine seem to take some time.  However, after initialization is complete, you can sit back and enjoy the fun for the rest of the session!

Apparently your browser doesn't do Java.
