Paper Assignment
Due Date
A hardcopy of the paper (electronic submissions will
not be accepted)
is due no later
than Friday, April 15th at noon.
The paper can be given to John
Paxton in person, pushed under his office door, or
placed in his mailbox in the CS office.
Topic
Read Chapter 2 of
How People Learn: Bridging Research and Practice.
Write a paper that includes the following three
sections:
- Section I. One full page.
Find two learning/teaching/classroom aspects of the
reading with which you agree.
Explain these aspects and illustrate them using specific
examples from your consulting experience this semester.
- Section II. One full page.
Find two learning/teaching/classroom aspects of the reading
with which you disagree.
Explain these aspects and illustrate why you disagree using
specific examples from your consulting experience this semester.
- Section III. One half to one full page.
Explain one learning/teaching/classroom tip that is not
mentioned in the paper. Illustrate the tip using specific
examples from your consulting experience this semester.
Grading Criteria
The paper is worth 100 points.
- Section I and Section II are each worth 40 points. Section III
is worth 20 points. A
section will be graded based on its insightfulness, clarity
and organization.
- Grammar and Spelling. For each grammar or spelling mistake
that is found, 4 points will be deducted.
- Logistics. You must adhere to the following requirements
or you will receive no credit:
- The paper should be written using a word processor.
- None of the three sections should exceed one page.
- A 10 point font should be used with 1.5 line spacing.
- The paper should be received by Friday, April 15th
at noon.
