Lab 3: Tables

Purpose

The purpose of this lab is to help you become more familiar using tables.

Partners

Everyone is required to work with one other partner on this assignment. You and your partner must be in the same lab section.

Preliminaries

Download this picture of the original American flag onto your computer.

Assignment

1. Create a kompozer document named lab3.html.
2. Place your name and your partner's name at the top of the document.
3. Place the picture of the original American flag below your names. with the caption Original American Flag above it.
4. Using tables, recreate a copy of this flag as closely as you can. Note: you do not need to include the white stars in this flag. Place this flag at the bottom of the document, lined up under the first flag. Immediately above this flag should be the caption Kompozer American Flag.
5. Place the names of the original 13 colonies in alphabetical order, right-justified, in the 13 stripes. The colonies were Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Virgina. Use black for the text color.

Grading - 10 points possible

E-mail a copy of your lab3.html document to Sindhu (sindhupriya.karanam@gmail.com) no later than the end of your lab period. Late assignments will not be accepted. However, partial credit can be earned.

• 1 point - the document is named lab3.html
• 1 point - the flag contains 13 stripes
• 1 point - all stripes have the same height
• 1 point - the stripes alternate red and white appropriately
• 1 point - the 13 colony names appear in alphabetical order, one per stripe
• 1 point - the 13 colony names are right-justified
• 1 point - a blue rectangle appears
• 1 point - the height and width of the blue rectangle are correct
• 1 point - the height and width of the flag is correct
• 1 point - the blue, red and white colors match exactly
