Lab 5: HTML
Purpose
The purpose of this lab is to gain a better behind-the-scene
understanding of HTML.
Partners
Everyone is required to work with a partner for Part II.
If you understand html, sharing your knowledge with someone else
will benefit both you and your partner.
Part I: Preliminary Blog Activity
Before you come to lab, you should have your blog updated
according to this document.
Part II: HTML - 10 points
Use the Source tab in KompoZer to handcode an html page that satisfies the following
requirements:
- 0 points. The file is named lab5.html
- 1 point. At the top of the file is a header 1 element with the
content - Piet Mondrian Drawing
- 5 points. Below the header 1 element is a table that contains
an approximate drawing of this
Piet
Mondrian picture that meets the following requirements:
- The width of the table is 300 pixels. Don't worry
about matching the height of the original drawing or the
dimensions of the cells in the original drawing.
- Use a 5 by 5 table to approximate this picture.
- Assume that the first dark black horizontal line in the original drawing
is perfectly horizontal.
- Thin black lines should appear wherever there are thick black
lines in the original drawing. (We will learn how to make
thick black lines later in html tables later.)
- Use colspan and rowspan wherever
possible to minimize the number of html table entries.
- 1 point. Below the drawing is a paragraph element with the
content - Here is the original drawing
- 1 point. If the user clicks on the words original drawing,
he or she is taken to this website:
http://www.storyboardtoys.com/gallery/Piets-House-Large.jpg
- 2 points. The html file validates correctly.
