Tips for Success

Lectures

• Attend class.
• Before class, skim the reading.
• After class, read the material carefully, paying special attention to material that was covered in class.
• After class, write simple programs to test your understanding of the material.

Labs and Programming Assignments

• Pretend that all assignments are due at least one full day before they actually are.
• If you work with a partner in the lab, make sure that you both fully understand your solution.

Exams

• Emphasize understanding, not memorization.
• Keep up with the material on a regular basis.
• Sleep well the night before the exam.

Resources

• Your classmates and/or lab partner.
• The TAs during labs or during office hours.
• John during lecture or during office hours. Note: please do not e-mail me programs, bring them to my office hours on your laptop or on a memory stick.
• The course textbook.
• The Web.
