Lab 11: American Computer & Robotics Museum
Logistics
- Due: Tuesday, November 7th no later than 11:59 p.m.
- Posted: Wednesday, October 18th - so that everyone has plenty
of time to visit.
- Partner Information: Complete this assignment individually.
- Submission Instructions: Upload the requested information
to the BrightSpace Lab 11 Dropbox.
- Deadline Reminder: Once this deadline passes, BrightSpace will no
longer accept your submission and you will no longer
be able to earn credit. Thus, if you are not able to fully complete
the assignment, submit whatever you have before the deadline so that
partial credit can be earned.
Learning Outcomes
- People have been engaged in computing activities for thousands of years.
In this lab, you will learn a little about the history of computing
by visiting the American
Computer & Robotics Museum.
Special Notes
- Attending your regularly scheduled lab is optional. However, you are
welcome to attend to seek help on topics that you don't
fully understand, etc.
- The American Computer Museum is located at
2023 Stadium Drive, Suite 1-A;
just west of the football stadium.
- The museum is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesdays through
Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays and holidays.
- MSU's School of Computing is an academic member of the museum.
You can visit for free by informing the person at the entrance
that you are enrolled in CSCI 127.
- Try to visit the museum for at least one hour. You can
visit anytime the museum is open between now and when the
assignment is due.
Grading - 10 points
- 5 points - While you are at the museum, take a selfie of
just you standing in front of your favorite exhibit.
Upload the selfie to the Lab 11 Dropbox.
- 5 points - Reflection Paper. Write a one-page
reflection paper about your visit. The content of the
paper is up to you but you could consider addressing topics
such as: What was the most compelling exhibit and why was it
compelling? Why is understanding the history of computing important?
What could the museum do differently to improve your experience? etc.

- 0 points - Attend lab to seek help on topics that
you don't fully understand, etc.
