2018 oSTEM Conference
- Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
(oSTEM)
is a national organization dedicated to educating and fostering leadership
for LGBTQA+ communities in the STEM fields. MSU has a local chapter:
oSTEM at Montana State University.
- The 2018 national conference takes place in Houston from Thursday, November 15th to
Sunday, November 18th.
- Montana State University is a conference sponsor.

Student Sponsorship
- Our goal is to sponsor as many LGBTQ+ STEM students as possible
to attend the conference. Sponsorship includes airfare, a shared hotel
room and conference registration.
- The Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering will support
10 NACOE students to attend.
- The College of Letters and Science Dean's Office will provide
$500 of support for a CLS student to attend if the
home unit of the student provides the other $500.
- Because this is a university sponsored trip, you have permission to
miss classes on Thursday and Friday.
Application Procedure
If you would like to attend the oSTEM conference,
e-mail the following information to John Paxton
(john DOT paxton AT montana DOT edu) no later than
Friday, September 14th. Decisions will be made no
later than Friday, September 21st.

- Major
- A brief overview of your involvement with the LGBT+
community.
- A brief overview of what MSU could do
better with respect to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- A brief overview of how attending the conference might be beneficial.
- Attach a current resume in pdf format. A current
resume will help you benefit from the oSTEM Career Fair.
- And anything else you wish to add.
