The Evolution of Snapshots

Snapshots is a work in progress.
If you have visited Snapshots before it will likely look different today than
it did the last time. One liberating feature of the Web is its capacity for
on-the-fly corrections and stylistic changes. We intend to exploit this liberty
to the fullest. The advantages to you should be obvious; the work will improve
continuously.
What kinds of improvements can you expect to find over time? These, to name a
few:
 | Rewordings and Enhanced Presentations:
Whenever we can find a way to present a topic better, we'll just do it
without apology. This means that the work will change dynamically over time.
|
 | New Descriptions: As we find new ways to
explain a concept that might be more appealing to certain individuals or
that might fit different learning styles better, we will incorporate them
into our hypertextbook. One nice feature of hypertext material is that you
need only follow the links that fit your needs best.
|
 | Static Illustrations: One picture, the old
adage goes, is worth a thousand words. Good illustrations can be developed
separately and then be scanned in for inclusion in Snapshots as image files.
We will continuously enrich the book with appropriate illustrations.
|
 | Fascinating Animations: If a good picture is
worth a thousand words, what is the worth of a great, interactive, dynamic
animated lesson with which a student can interact in order to learn a
concept? One of our main objectives is to sprinkle the text liberally with
animations of the main concepts under study, animations with which you can
interact as you learn. Good animations are quite a challenge to design and
construct, however. Over time, Snapshots will be enhanced with new
animations as they are completed as part of our ongoing research into
Web-based animations.
|
 | Sound: We plan to include a voice
rendition of the book, perhaps starting with just certain sections.
|
 | New Technology: We are not so naive as to
think that Web presentation technology is going to remain static. As
improvements are made in the technology, we will adapt, enhancing our
presentation with the latest innovations. |
The result of our diligence in continuously improving Snapshots will be a
better learning experience for you. Check in with us often.
