This next series of pictures were taken in a chemical plant.  The slides depict biofouling in various forms.  As seen in this slide, the biofilm appears as a think gooey substance.  What kind of biofilm this is, what its effect on the proper functioning of the equipment depicted, and how to treat it are all less important for this slide show than the fact that biofilms show up in all sorts of environments.
