Portal to

Theory of Computing

The Hypertextbook

Welcome to the theory of computing hypertextbook portal.  This site is under construction. We will be moving items from our old one and adding new features to this one over time.  (Recent releases of Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer provide for a different, uniform tagging system for applets, and we are in the process of making the necessary conversions.)

Please Note:  The hypertextbook is being designed to be distributed on CD or DVD media.  You may access the models on this site, but the models will likely load slowly even with fast Internet connections, and may in some cases not work well across the Internet.

To browse this site please follow the links in the left margin.

bulletThe "Literature" link leads to a number of papers that you can peruse to learn more about hypertextbooks and the various tools and active learning models that go into their construction.
bulletThe "Models" link takes you to the various models that form the basis of Theory of Computing: The Hypertextbook
bulletThe "Hypertextbook" link takes you to an old prototype of the hypertextbook.  This prototype is being replaced by a much newer version.

Please check back often.
