(A glossary will be incorporated into Snapshots. We intend to have it accessible from every page. A list of terms (an extension of the two below) will allow a user to click on the desired term and be linked to the corresponding description. We continue to think of easier ways to link users to the glossary. For example, it may be possible to write a Java program that identifies any word a user selects with the mouse and then connects the user to the Glossary or Index entry for that word.)
Finite State
Automaton
Mindbelt
A simple model of a computer with a finite number of states and a single head for reading input. The input is said to be accepted if the fsa winds up in an accepting state after processing all of the input. Otherwise, the input is said to be rejected.
The singular form is automaton. The plural form is automata, not automatas or automatons. And don't you forget it.
Any stricture that throttles the free flow of ideas through your mind.
