Hello my name is Kevin. I run this non-profit company LogicBoard where I take the donated boards and refit them for the adaptive use. I again donate those boards to |
eagle mount. I have also been coordinating adaptive snowboard camps to educate and train new adaptive riders. People with all various types of permanent physical disabilities are able to make snowboarding work for them. I want to provide as many snowboards as possible to the adaptive riders. |
ADAPTIVE SNOWBOARDING
Snowboarders who have become disabled and others who live with a disability want to be a part of the sport, recreation, and lifestyle that is snowboarding. Snowboarding is also possible for polio and stroke survivors, people with cerebral palsy, sight impairment, or other disabilities.
Adaptive Snowboarding refers to a modified version of the sport, with changes in equipment, rules, and technical specifications that enable persons with physical disabilities to participate in both recreational and competitive activities. Some adaptive riders use outriggers to help balance themselves while they board, but many don't use any special equipment. Also bindings on the board can be moved to help with balance.Although Adaptive Snowboarding has garnered enough attention from other snowboarders, the sport is still in its earliest stages of development. In much the same way that disabled athletes mastered adaptive ski equipment and techniques to bring their sport to a Paralympic level.
