The Design Process
"The design process is essentially a process of subtraction, organization and emphasis."
-Leon Paternoster
1
DEFINE THE PROBLEM
The first step to the design process is where you define what you are trying to
create, design, or make.
2
GATHER PERTINENT INFORMATION
The second step includes gathering information that you may use in the products
design. Then identify constraints and explore possibilities. Remember to Brainstorm, research, and
generate ideas.
3
GENERATE MULIPLE SOLUTIONS
The third step to the design process is to design multiple solutions with the
pertinent information that you gathered for the design
4
ANALYZE AND SELECT A SOLUTION
The fourth step is to analyze each solution. During this phase you should pick which
solution fits best to the problem. Also keeping in mind constraints and the pertinent information you
gathered.
5
TEST AND IMPLEMENT THE SOLUTION
The final step to the design process is to test the
solution that you picked and fix any flaw to the design.
Who Uses the Design Process?
A design process is used by many people including web designers, graphic designers, engineers, architects, manufacturers, inventors, entrepreneurs, etc. These people are included with the design process because they deal with the aspect of creating or designing something for their problem. For instance, something that has a problem obvisously needs a logical solution to the problem, which is the basis for the design process.
