strategies and instruments for evaluating educational resources developed for the web.

Realizing the Objectives

The Webworks team has embarked on various activities to realize this aspect of the Webworks mission.

Webworks Seminar.   The Webworks team has a weekly seminar focusing on various aspects of learning theory and evaluation techniques.
bullet
Faculty mentoring.  Webworks director Rocky Ross has joined a University initiative known as the "Teaching and Learning at MSU Project" which is embodied in the Big Sky Institute on campus to aid new faculty in their transition to becoming teachers.  Funded by the National Science Foundation, this project teams a senior faculty member with a new faculty member and a student in exploring ways of increasing teaching and learning effectiveness in the classroom.
bullet
Workshop attendance.  As part of the mentoring project, the Webworks director has attended various workshops on teaching and learning, including  Classroom Assessment and Classroom Research:  Investigating and Improving Student Learning conducted by invited lecturer Mimi Steadman.
bullet
Networking.   As a result of contacts made during past projects, involvement in the Big Sky Institute, and invitations to speakers given as part of the Webworks seminar, the Webworks team is developing collaborations with faculty members from around campus whose expertise is in educational assessment and learning.
