USDA Grant

Dr. John Sheppard and Dr. Bruce Maxwell (Department of Land Resources and Environmental Science) received a three-year multi-institution grant from the US Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service focused on Data Intensive Farm Management. The $3M grant is a collaboration with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, of which MSU will receive $554K to develop AI-based tools for on-farm experimentation and data analysis.  Congratulations!  MSU Article.  [July 2021]

NSF SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Phase I Grant

Dr. Laura Stanley and Ph.D. student Apostolos Kalatzis have received funding to conduct research and development for their IntelligHealth platform, which detects the early onset of respiratory diseases using cutting edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and remote health monitoring technologies. IntelligHealth leverages the power of AI coupled with the booming IoT device market to improve patient health outcomes through a proprietary Human-Artificial Intelligence computing application for detecting the early onset of respiratory disease. The innovative technology will serve as a complementary tool that gives healthcare professionals access to the critical information they need to treat their patients. [June 2021]

Wright Patterson Air Force Grant

Dr. Clemente Izurieta  received a $200K grant renewal to continue developing QA solutions for the Air Force. The grant supports two graduate students, who will develop hierarchical quality models specific to maintainability and security that potentially tackle weaknesses in the supply chain.  Congratulations! Northwest Virtual Institute for CyberSecurity Education & Research (CySER)

In collaboration with Washington State University, Dr. Clem Izurieta and Dr. Travis Peters have received 170K to establish a Center for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Knowledge, Skills & Abilities for the Military and Civilian Workforce. CySER will provide the knowledge units required for the burgeoning national need for organizations to protect their data, network systems and operations over the spectrum of Workforce specialty areas specified by the National Initiative for Cyber Security Education (NICE) Framework.
