With the industry embracing new technologies such as machine learning, blockchains, and augmented reality, now is a great time to pursue an advanced degree in Computer Science.
Benefits
Our goal is to empower you with knowledge and a degree that will make you desirable and marketable to future employers. Our faculty and visiting industry practitioners offer foundational and project-based courses relevant to senior software developers, system engineers and data scientists. Through our close working relationships with high tech companies in the Bozeman area you will have opportunities to become involved with open source projects and internships. To develop advanced skills that companies and startups value, you will explore emerging technologies through independent studies with our research-active faculty.
School Culture
The Gianforte School of Computing welcomes graduate students from countries around the world. To promote diversity, equity and inclusion, students are regularly sponsored to attend conferences that focus on inclusion in Computer Science, such as the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference, the Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference, and the oSTEM Conference. As a student, you will receive close mentoring to assist with the technical, professional, and personal aspects of your education.
Funding
The high demand for undergraduate computer science education allows us to offer teaching assistantships to most of our graduate students who need support. In exchange for tuition and a stipend, a teaching assistant mentors undergraduates in labs and grades assignments. Graduate students are eligible for educational loans, Graduate School fellowships, Benjamin Fellowships and more. Graduate students may supplement their income through course grading appointments or by assisting funded research projects.
